Was on the road this past week and stumbled upon this in a well-known Rolex shop. Always have wanted an original Explorer but this is one better. Did it ever sing to me! Completely unmolested - no polishing. This message has been edited by mrsnak on 2011-...

Made only one year and because of that, sadly, the price slightly was out of my reach (unless I wanted my wife to divorce me). Has a blue-steel second hand.

You still have the possibility to find a Ref 1016, which is way less rare and less expensive, but very appealing, too. Best and please, keep us update in your journey into the Explorers. Nicolas.
I agree, a nice, but less rare Explorer...
...would be fantastic. You never know what comes up in one's travels. Visited another vintage watch store in San Francisco that same trip. Saw a very nice original Omega Seamaster 120 diver, but the owner was holding out for the big money.

mrsnak, the last auction on 10th march NY, from one auction house, there was..
..a 1950s Explorer ref 6098 which was sold at a reasonable price.. maybe u can try auctions? but it will be exciting if you got one, whichever Explorer which fits u, that be fun. check out the auction on 27th march in Geneva, there is a nice 1016.....
