Hey Bill....
...I found myself reading this and agreeing with every single word.
Wonderful watch by the way. Truly beautiful.
I was seeing a watch friend of mine recently. He had three watches to show me. The rarest was a 1665. Then there was a beautiful 3-6-9, and then there was a 6538. I loved all of them, but that 6538 Rolex was, literally, the most beautiful watch I have ever seen. It was unfortunately spoken for.... but I do not believe there can be a better version than the one I saw.....and you are absolutely right....when you strive to find the best version of a watch that is possible, it is never a disappointment.
For me, originality is top. I have been in the process of selling watches that are not original enough.
Second comes quality of dial. The dial, for me, must be perfect. Then case and bezel.
Third comes provenance, and by that I mean interesting history and integrity.
Fourth comes quality of movement.
But this isnt an either/or list.... its a necessary list. This is how I am now viewing my vintage Rolex purchases.
Your gilt dial is special....congratulations on it. It is fantastic to see Vlad speechless every now and then....that doesnt often happen.
