your love for crowns without crown guards has left an impression on me, to be sure...... I've become obsessed with the current Milgaus!
I think part of the appeal of vintage watches is how the particular instance of a model has evolved over the years, how the dial's color might have faded or gained a patina, how the indices might have acquired a cream patina....
your rolex gmt has gained a wonderful chocolate facade--a distinctiveness and qualia (as a philosopher might say!) all its own. Ineffable might be a word that also captures what I feel.....

the 6542 for sure, it is the epitome of what a tool watch is, the other has to be a Submariner I agree but...which one, I love the big crowns, but for me red sub 200m first, why? Whilst the non dates are the "purest" option, the date, made the Submariner ...

Funnily, these 2 are under rated in their category... The 6542, being a GMT, is less sought than a Sub, and the Tudor is much less appreciated than the 6538 / 5510 / 6200, but not less interesting. Maybe it is also the reason why I love this pair so much!...
