Interesting reading your opinion on that dial
I love the Daytona and never had one but still looking at them.
I was thinking about this new ceramic bezel and didn't know if I would prefer this one to the steel version available for the previous generations.
When a new version arises, it is always easier to feel that we like the older version better. After several years that the black ceramic bezel is out (in the rose gold version), I still think the steel bezel has something more, it is better integrated in the overall picture.
Hence, the black cermaic is portier.
However, the fact your say the black dial really is worth considering vs the white one is a very interesting point as it would look less contrasted indeed.
Food for thoughts and I have to see it in the metal, first.

Interesting that you have gone from favoring the white to the black dial.
I had been convinced the white was the way to go. Then about a week ago I saw a black-dialed version and thought it was very striking. Now I am up in the air about which I like better.
I think people
at first tend to favor the white dial as it contrasts well with the black bezel. Then seeing the black dial makes them hesitate to decide..

Great report on a significant release for Rolex.
For most brands, such a change would be insignificant, but IMO, this is huge for the Daytona. Ceramic bezel is well overdue. I do think the black sundials might be a bit stark, but it's still an incredible piece. It's nice to see the Daytona moving forwar...

I'll admit Fx - I am on the list for the white dial Daytona, and expect to receive it in 2017. But your case for the black dial is quite compelling. When I was a little younger, my decision was sometimes to choose the option that fit my collection better ...
