love the new datejust ii - sacrilege: but it is in many ways better at what it is than the patek 5711 (which does continue to intrigue me none-the-less.)  What do I mean by that?

The sweet spot watch for me is a sport heritage -  acknowledging that i am not going to wear it hiking or diving

1. I love steel watches - particularly a sports watch should be all steel IMO.
2. Form follows function - it isn't trying to look like anything else.  Everything is useful (perhaps the dial is a bit dressier than I would have chosen if it were designing it - but it is certainly elegant)
3. History that stretches before the 70s!
4. Undeniably elegant

What it lacks - exclusivity and ultimate WIS approval -   is sincerely important to me though.
