I'll throw in a vote for the date here to go against the grain.
The cyclops is a signature Rolex feature, a diving watch like a Sub doesn't need to have a perfectly balanced and clean look like a dress watch, and the Rolex date function is well implemented with instantaneous changing and quickset.
The Submariner looks great...............
but having just acquired a 116610LN and needing a date as an everyday tool I have to go with the date as the better option.
