During the last four weeks I got a 5513 from 1971 and another from 1989. Now hunting for a nice gilt plus a 5512. It's difficult because I want to get the watch with box and papers. Best, Kari

it definitely does not look like a 1960's Rolex factory engraving and I have heard different stories about these casebacks. Do you have more informations ?

is always interesting. While not my favourite area to collect-there is definately something fascinating to think a British Navy, US or Peruvian airforce pilot or French Marine used a watch. Congratulations on your new catch! Happy for you Nicolas. Best Ed...

The watch comes with attribution papers from "ministere des armée". We can clearly read the brand of the watch (Rolex), its serial number,and MN issue year. The watch comes also with rolex geneva service papers. Almost like Bexley!

Yes how differs the SN??? They sould be in the same SN range, because they belong to the same batch We need Graham SN And number 17 SN (which has a lug engraved?????) Will get mine asap to compare Also they never come with box and original warranty papers...

You wrote 27x xxx, isn't rather 1, 7xx xxx? Meters first were on 1967 dials, AFAIK... Later it should be feet first. But I can be wrong. Best, Nicolas

hello Mine is 2 29x xxx 68 I think... MN 70 number higher than yours Attributed in 1970 on official document from French army It looks like these watches were not delivered at the same time Was it the same with Tudor? We also need more SN even from MN68 b... 

If the French Marine bought some 5513 to an AD, which seems to be the case, some 2 or three years after the AD took delivery of the watches, which is something not uncommon, the AD may have not receive a series of 5513 in the same range number. As for TUD... 

the serial numbers are very close to each other. It should be the same for the 5513 IMHO, but I have never seen any edidence of this

Very interesting document. I heard the same about Prieur and some other ADs all over France. It is clear that Rolex didn't deliver these 5513 directly to the M.N, but that the M.N bought them to ADs. The thing is that PRIEUR won't help us to have more inf... 

Moreover the attribution letter is signed by admiral of marine nationale... This man works after for secret service (boss of DGSE)

a military engineer. It looks like he contributed a lot to the navy during a mission or a development program Because attribution comes from admiralty, and Lacoste thanks him a lot! We can imagine everything...

His father was military engineer, working with commando divers of the french navy. He was diving with them during technical missions. During his military career, in 1971, Admiral Lacoste (futur boss of french secret service...) rewarded him with a Rolex S...
