but yesterday finally here, my one and only grail 😍 My first gold watch and a bit overwhelmed really so hopefully I can get used to it. 1980 Daydate 18038. In immaculate condition as it left the factory some 39 years ago 😊 Had to be this reference number ...

I wore mine for 30 years before selling it. It took a while for my wrist to get used to no longer carrying the weight. Wear it often and in good health.

Having been looking at DD for so long I was able to narrow it down that only the first few years (1978-1983 aprox) of the ref 18038, they were made with this slightly wider case.

say hello too, a special Rolex from my late Father when company's partners gave him on firm's 25th anniversary in 1973. I took it for a full service some years ago, to bring the shine and glory back. ...  

and most important a history with your family, hopefully one day you can pass it on!
