I agree with you that in these small great details resides the beauty and charm of our timepices.
It´s true that the modern renditions of classic references, like your Explorer, lack the bevels, and they look fine and with the traditional excellence of Rolex finish and polish. But I see them as rather "cold" in comparison with the old beveled treatment of the lugs.

A pity that bevels don't exist anymore. It was a nice touch of " sophistication " on these toolwatches. Now we are going to the opposite: The new Rolex are less tool, more luxury watches, but the bevels diappeared... Strange. Best, Nicolas
