I just keep reading about how well Rolex holds value, and wanted to know where this piece fits in, and if this is a seminal Rolex or not.. Just out of pure curiosity, how much would this piece be "worth" today? Just out of curiosity...I am not into selling or trading of watches, as te country I live in just does not make it possible, and I have no desire to do so.
Amanico, there are two numbers engraved on the back - on either side of the bracelet - 78360, and one is 580. Do these numbers make any sense?
The original certificate and box are not there, but the original bill might be.
GMT Master I from early 1970's
Attached are few photos of my GMT Master I. This was a wedding present from my Mom to my Dad in late 1972 / early 1973. I recently had it serviced directly from Rolex, and it works perfectly. The dial is original. Think the bezel might have been replaced....

Hang on to it for dear life, for sentimental value alone. Look up the history of the GMT, it's a Rolex classic! Yours looks very original and in superb condition.

No, the serial number is engraved BETWEEN the lugs.
