These gilt dial Rolexes
are always so tempting when I see them. They appeal to everything that I find so appealing in vintage watches.
A couple of questions, if I may.
Of the dial configurations are some rarer than others?
In terms of collectability, are some more desired than others?

Sister, if I want a tropical dial. If I want to go for a deep glossy gilt dial, no wonder here, a 5512 or 13... Preferrably underline. Best, Nicolas, from the dark side.

I think I would answer simply all the gilt dial watches are rare and yes some maybe a little more that others... But... I would really answer this by saying finding a 5512 gilt dial in any of the configurations which is in very good condition is rare. So ...

The case is an important feature also
the PCG case is a feature associated with a specific time period and the dial that is associated with a PCG would be a chapter ring dial ending +/- 1963 with a non chapter ring swiss only dial. The square crown guard was a transition from the no crown gua...

Radium was banned by the 60's
