I was on a trip to Asia last fall, and I planned to make a stop in Tokyo to meet a japanese friend who is a great vintage GS guru. I want to share my impressions on this memorable experience. As a long time Seiko fan, who appreciate the brand and its hist...

You certainly lived the same experience, especially while visiting SII. Before writing this post, I read many tour reports from different people and there is a lot in common with my own experience.

You had it all! The visit, the watches, the food, the drink, the friendship. Thank you for this fantastic report. And I really like that special watch you got for yourself.

but are you having your posts being approved by Seiko PR/Marketing before posting them here? if not, they can be upset. I decided not to post any pictures of their production areas and other sensitive places for this reason. S

This was not a press tour. I'm not under NDA. Each time we where in a sensitive area, you guide told us that pictures where not allowed. As you can see, I did not post photos of any production unit.

I was part of a collector tour, they allowed me to take pictures of whatever I wanted actually, but was told that if I wanted to post a report that I should send it to Seiko first and they would review and approve it first before I could post it. When I v...

Thank you for the souvenirs from Japan. You caught the end of season unagi eel and early Autumn...perfect. The Seiko tours were superb and we are envious of the special variant Factory-Only Grand Seiko watch. Of course, our Japanese Vintage Sensei must ha... 

Next time i will try to go during cherry blossoms season. As you guessed, the sensei has been more than helpfull ;-) Thanks again to him.

It was really a blast, starting from the souvenir you guys brought to me, which tuned out to be left in the trunk of the taxi you took from Tokyo station ) People, believe or not, I call the taxi company who contacted the driver who then checked the trunk... 

This experience is quite relevant to understand how this country is so different. We have been very impressed by 'normal standard' of japanese service. Just stunning to my eyes ... This country is really incredible. Thanks again Ken for making this possib...

what a beautiful watch you have brought back with you ! Is the correct number sbgr 00M ? and an edition only sold in the factory ? Shame as i probably will never get there... I see on the seiko website a similair version, sbgr 261 with ivory dial and new ... 

SBGR00M and SBGR061 are identical, except on one point. The only difference is the golden rotor. SBGR00M is available only at SII, Morioka. SBGR261 has the new dial, whith the new GS logo. I prefer the old dial, which was perfectly balanced IMHO. The diff...  

i understand and thanks for explaining and the picture. I agree with the better dial lay out of the SBGR061. No lets see if i can find one in EU.
