PHILLIPS Auction 11th November 2017: Exceptional Heuer Chronographs from the Jack Heuer Era

Heuer fans,

I'm not usually a follower of auctions but sometimes, the rule becomes the exception.

This week, in Geneva, the auction of Exceptional Heuer Chronographs from the Jack Heuer Era will take place.

You can check out the auction website HERE.

I selected a few watches that caught my eye:

AUTAVIA Big Sub Ref.2446M_80-120kCHF

This 1st execution dial but 2nd execution hands is estimated at a whopping CHF120,000.

MONACO Dark Lord Ref. 740.303N_35-50kCHF

This prototype black-PVD steel case is remarkable for a 1975-year watch. I did not even know they had PVD in the 70s.

Jack Heuer says he saw the King of Spain wearing a prototype Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with black PVD and asked his R&D people to make a Heuer version.

AUTAVIA Siffert Chronomatic Ref. 1163T_50-80kCHF

Two-time F1 Grand Prix Champion Jo Siffert wore this version the most, according to the advertising images.

It started the trend for blue seconds hands and was important to Heuer for the USA market. It was a small batch named "Chronomatic" that failed to excite the market. They stopped using the "Chronomatic" logo so it is now rare. As with all "failures", if you hang onto one for long enough, the price estimates will soar!  wink

AUTAVIA Jack Heuer's 85th birthday Ref. CBE2111.BA0687_8-10kCHF

Finally, the serial #1 of 1932  piece limited edition re-issued for Jack Heuer's 85th birthday on 17th November 2017.

It's the last lot of the auction and slated for 'Children in Need' charity so there should be a few bids......

Regards,

MTF
