I could not believe the prices, and this is coming from someone who is familiar with the brand and had bought a number of Birkins. But your Depeche here is actually a more complicated construction than the Birkin and so it’s one of those things where bigger is not always more expensive.
I was just handling that and the other iterations (leathers) last week. It is the perfect fit for a use case I’ve been trying to solve. Unfortunately it’s way way too expensive !
That said, my feeling is all other mainstream leather brands pale in comparison to Hermes. If anyone in this cohort retains some craftsmanship it is only Hermes.

I have to disagree on this one, the quality of Hermes is definitely the next level when it comes to leather products. The source of leathers is mostly from Canada only where barb-wires are not used to avoid
skin issues, the manufacturing is hand made with only prime quality material. Now, is it expensive yes it is. However, Hermes cannot even be compared to Louis Vuitton for instance, it would be like comparing Patek Philippe and Tissot ! Louis Vuitton's sig...

Absolutely. Nobody is immune from marketing techniques that convince us .....it'll make us happy, we'll have more sex, we'll have more approval from peers etc etc etc. if we buy X product.
Our entire economy runs on us buying stuff that was sold to us by some form of marketing expertise capitalizing on our vulnerabilities.
