Hello and Welcome to the forums RolexRoz!

A very brief introduction.

Date: Aug 20, 2009,09:55 AM -  (view entire thread)

I have probably put this in the wrong place, as I am neither computer savvy, nor am I coming to terms with the layout of this site. However I am delighted to see that it has gone its own way when it comes to layout (probably softwear) etc as so many other supposedly Top Sites all seem to utilise a similar style and tend to look broadly similar.

Right back to the introduction; Hello I am Rolexroz.

I am really called Rod, I have two possible reasons for using this username, the first one is a secret known only to a few, the other and the most obvious is that the first time I used it, in 1999 I think having used my own name and other pseudonymns prior to that, I was in such a hurry to register with a Rolex site that I made a mess of writing Rolexrod, hence I have been Rolexroz for 10 years - and it is growing on me.

I have always been drawn to watches, as a child in the late 60's and 70's I would get my fathers cast offs each time he got himself a new timepiece. These were never expensive watches but to a watch mad youngster it did not matter. I had just got a new watch and even better it had been dad's.(you can't put a price on that..........)

Unfortunately life got in the way of watch collecting until the late 90's when I answered a wanted advert on another watch site from a couple of gentleman in Singapore (Goh Jing Hwee and Beng Chua. Please do not shoot me for the spelling.) Both of them were looking for a new Rolex 16622 being a gents full sized 40mm Yachtmaster in steel and Platinum. As I had seen this very watch in my local Rolex AD in Scotland that very day a deal was done. They got the watches they wanted and I lost about £40 for each one I posted to them. However I did feel good about the purchase and  both gave me fantastic references as to my honesty and integrity. I was now well and truly off on the path of a good watch once more. I have dabbled ever since and am now in the fortunate position of owning many watches, mostly Rolex, with my pride and joy being a McQueen Orange Hand Explorer 11 with straight seconds hand.

Over the years I have become very well known on a number of Rolex and general watch sites and I can still confess that I do still love watches be it the humblest of Swatch or the beauty of a Panerai.

So thanks for having me on the site and once I find where things are I would hope to be able to add the odd comment, those of you know me will no doubt groan at the thought of reading any more of my normally long winded passages.

Kindest regards from a particularly wet and windy Scotland

Rolexroz
