TimeOut

Interesting question, Andrew.

"So, did we really live through a ‘golden’ musical age, or is every teenager’s music important to them?"

IMO, the answer is that every teenager's music is important to them.  What's great however about the music of rock's golden era, is that the songs are evergreen.  They are just as relevant musically today, as they were the first year they dropped on the charts.  I was born a little too late to witness it personally, but I think rock 'n' roll's greatest year was 1969.  That year saw the release of some of my favorite albums of all time -- the Rolling Stones' "Let It Bleed," Led Zeppelin's debut album (featuring my favorite track of theirs "Your Time Is Gonna Come") and Led Zeppelin II, "Abbey Road" by the Beatles, Dylan's "Nashville Skyline," as well as seminal albums from Cream, Creedence, The Band, and others.  I embrace this music as much as I do the tracks of my own teenage years.  And as much as many, including myself at times, lament the state of today's music, I'm pretty happy to live during the heyday of bands like Radiohead, Coldplay, and U2.  I'm just glad whenever anyone discovers some piece of music to love!

Cheers,
Daos
