I've used a Tempurpedic pillow for years
and I never noticed any smell, even when new. In fact this is my second one, because I bought the wrong size for the first one. Perhaps the smell is only a problem with the newer ones? When I bought mine about 4-5 years back I don't recall any smell from the mattresses/pillows and other accessories on display.

One possiblitiy is could the mattress have been inadvertently sprayed with some chemicals while at the warehouse? Mattress probably came sealed in a plastic bag but there could be some holes somewhere. Does the paint smell sort of smell like moth balls? -...
