Leica M Mount Lens

 Lens Choice:-

Being a  Leica virgin (both camera and lenses), I decided and went for the "safest" option and my favourite focal lengths, 35mm & 50mm.

If life where that simple ! Next came more decisions, NOCTI, CRON, LUX, Elmar etc. A whole lot of Leica Jargon for a newbie to contend with.

To give u an idea ....  Bewildering !

With the Leica M:

    15mm f/8 Hologon 18mm f/3.8 Super-Elmar 21mm f/1.4 Summilux 21mm f/2.8 Elmarit 21mm f/3.4 Super-Angulon 21mm f3.4 Super Elmar 21mm f/4 Super-Angulon 24mm f/1.4 Summilux 24mm f/2.8 Elmarit 24mm f/3.8 Elmar 28mm f/2 Summicron 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit 35mm f/1.4 Summilux 35mm f/2 Summicron 35mm f/2.5 Summarit 35mm f/2.8 Summaron 35mm f/3.5 Summaron 40mm f/2 Summicron 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux 50mm f/1.0 Noctilux 50mm f/1.2 Noctilux 50mm f/1.4 Summilux 50mm f/1.5 Summarit 50mm f/2 Summicron 50mm f/2.5 Summarit 50mm f/2.8 Elmar 75mm f/1.4 Summilux 75mm f/2 Summicron 75mm f/2.5 Summarit 90mm f/2.0 Summicron 90mm f/2.5 Summarit 90mm f/2.8 Elmarit 90mm f/2.8 Tele-Elmarit 90mm f/4 Elmar 90mm f/4 Macro-Elmar 135mm f/4.5 Hektor 135mm f/4 Tele-Elmar 135mm f/2.8 Elmarit

Multiple Focal Length Lenses Leica M

    16mm,18mm,21mm f/4 Tri-Elmar
  • 28mm,35mm,50mm f/4 Tri-Elmar

Not that I am complaining since a camera system is Lens first and foremost ! Especially in Leica World !

Knowing that I liked shooting both in the day and night, I had to get lenses that would perform equally well in both dusk n dawn. That meant only one thing ... Fast Aperture !

In came 2 lenses:

50 Summilux ASPH (6 bit coded)

35 Summilux ASPH (6 bit coded)

Fast Lenses are one thing if not a joy to use ! Expensive ! In Leica speak, fast lenses comes at a price u would spend on an entire CaNikon system. And that is speaking each single lens purchase !

So how do they perform ?  A quick answer ... U have no LIVED (photographically speaking, IMO unless u have had Leica !)

A couple of sample shots. Although, I do have a firm favourite amongst the 2 ... and by a margin no less

@ 35mm f1.4 , shot wide open

"Parliament"

@ 50mm f1.4 , again shot wide open

"A favourite chinese past time"

Creamy bokeh, pin sharp (if u nail focus that is ..... ) even wide open.
