Thanks All, I like the moustache and finger nail trimmer idea but Salman is the closest; it is indeed used to trim candle wicks, although it was known as a candle snuffer. These days we think of those cup-shaped candle extinguishers as “candle snuffers”, ...  

I love the rustic handmade appeal of the scissors, look forward to the next challenge. S

This one interested me because of the history of candlemaking and the snuffless wick. I will make the next one more difficult. :-) Andrew
