Touching more Corners of Tecolote, Part II

We left spot #3 due to continual barks from all directions and because the current occupants don’t have the same taste in liquor as we do… at least they left a couple glugs in the bottle.

Only one block later I was thrilled! Look! A Dodge Power Wagon Trio, protected by a Chevy Pickup (secured by a wheel clamp).

You don’t see this sort of thing very often, even in SoCal neighborhoods (Thank God, I hear many of you saying under your breath).

And you might think your own garage was “full” but I would bet your garage doesn’t express the full meaning of FULL as well as this house does!

Canyon entrance 4 was hidden to the side of this nice house. An overgrown path leads to the main E-W fork of the canyon which we walked a couple years ago.

Notice how much rain must fall on this north-facing hillside compared to the west-facing slopes we have walked at 1, 2 and 3.

Across from us the south-facing slope is bare and dry.

That way is East and the higher mesa which drains down through this canyon. On top of the hill is the aptly named Mesa College. We walked there last year (that was an adventure).

The view from Mesa looking West down at Tecolote Canyon (taken July last year). Our entrance #4 is shown to the left. The golf driving range is at the bottom center; the course is out of sight.

We left the canyon and got back on the road again, 7500-steps tired, hot and thirsty. But we screeched to a halt at this sight!

Surely there is a WPS visitor looking for a restoration project? A GMC double-height bus might be fun, no? It looks like a home-made Scenicruiser camper with cab-over modification.

An enterprising mechanic might splice the boat onto the front just for fun...

Anyway, we called it a walk, did a little shopping at Costco, and again screeched to a halt. My wife spotted a $100 bill in the aisle, picked it up and went straight to the business office to report finding money.
A few minutes later she returned, red-faced. She said “They say I can keep it.” I said “Really?”

Yes.

We had a big laugh and plan on leaving it somewhere to fool another unsuspecting honest person.

Here’s the watch of the day, my trusty B & R Space 4

The birds of our Wild Kingdom, were glad to see us home, because they were ready for more breakfast.

The squirrel that was about to poach some birdseed took a flying leap onto a wire and headed off at full speed.

It’s nice to be home.

Thanks for coming along,

Cazalea
