Very interesting review, jporos.
Taking picture in low light conditions is a real challenge for me, and I must say that the D Lux 6 brings some big improvements, compared to the " 4 "... Unless I don't know how to take decent pictures in such poor light conditions... Which is also possible.
I spent quite some time looking at your photos, and well, I am convinced, very convinced.
Very happy with the " 4 ", though. I just noticed that I took a bit more than... 51000 pictures, in a bit more than... 4 years, with it.
Maybe is this the time to give it a brother?

that bit me with the Leica bug in the first place. Don't know much about the about the specifications of the D-LUX 4, but the f1.4 lens on the 6 is making the difference for me. Maybe look at the much maligned X-Vario (macros I've seen look nice from this...

Truthfully, I have not used the video even once.
I should, but I am so old fashioned. I keep thinking you need a video camera to take videos. (Which is so untrue these days) I use the EVF all the time on these bright summer days. Thanks, Ming.

much more in my budget. I would have to see whether a viewfinder type camera is for me. I tend not to take street shots, but maybe I would with a viewfinder camera.
The M2 is a superb film Leica...

Nice review Prof. Good to see a user review vs the countless technical reviews shooting charts etc. Nothing beats having someone share first hand experience.
I could not figure out all of those charts and graphs...
so all that I had left to talk about were my pictures. I agree, I just like to see what people can achieve differently with what kit they are using.

Funnily, the Leica branded cameras are performing better in resale value than their Panasonic counterparts. I just compared the sales results of the D-Lux 3 with those of the Lumix LX-2. But this is not the issue. The Leica versions are cool, the Panasoni...
Marcus, I use RAW mode 90% of the time...
especially because then there are more possibilities of working with the image in Lightroom. The ability to shoot in RAW was one of the factors that led me to the D-LUX 6. JPEG mode is great as well, and I use that for quick shots that I cannot fool with ...

The decision between the D-LUX 6 and LX-7 is really one of aesthetics and pocketbook. With the EVF, I could not see paying 2 1/2 times more for exactly the same viewfinder.

+1 of practically all your statements. - I , myself meanwhile am a user for this Leica DX-6, and I am equally happy with my choice . (BTW: as well its low light abilities, as also the macro features live up to my expectations and hope) Based on your revie...
The EVF is very helpful...
in full sun, but I find that I use it 75% of the time anyway to better frame my shots. The diopter adjustment is great because it compensates for my old eyes. Congrats hs, from one D-LUX 6 owner to another.
