Although VC announced the 1731 minute repeater was inspired by founder Jean-Marc Vacheron and the dial by the ref 6179 of the 1950s, that offset seconds sub-dial was very possibly inspired by a similar layout used by the great master and inventor of the spring-driven repeater; Abraham-Louis Breguet. This association is entirely appropriate for A-L Breguet collaborated with V&C in the early 19th century and obtained watches from his Geneva compatriot.
