I for one don't have much faith in the Vacheron "records". I've queried them dozens of times and I have come to this conclusion, they have an old book and in this book are three columns: case number, movement number and approximate date. And there are err... 

how do your comments relate to the original post? Over the years this seller has declined to obtain an extract or certificate from VC, for obvious reasons, so I'm confused about the meaning your comments. Please enlighten me

If there is already a 6087 with correct numbers on an incorrect watch, then I think that verifying the numbers on this one is no guarantee that this one would be correct. I can't remember if this is the one with the serial numbers on the outside of the ba... 

They also know the calibre, the reference number if it has one, sometimes even the original purchaser. Have you ever obtained a certificate of authenticity? The details are more thorough than with the extract. I have come to appreciate that, with a giant ... 

Yes I have had watches sent in for Vacheron service. But it was about 20 years ago now, so maybe some things have improved in many regards. I have made very many requests for info on matching case/movement numbers. I've never had one where they knew anyth...

I agree with you, in looking to purchase a vintage timepiece, any brand, one must conduct through research before buying. I would call that a prime example of Caveat Emptor, or "buyer beware". There are many sources of information, and confirming the seri... 

tells you, it should be your first interest to protect your interests professionally yourself. Means to proof fundamentally, what you are going to acquire. Especially if it is well known, that a high amount of questionable stuff come form sources like eba... 

for the true aficionado: Get seriously on highly alert with this watch or similar offers.

If you see a full authenticity report for this watch, than I would recommend to contact the expert personally and ask, if he conducted the examination by himself personally, ask for a guaranty.
