Do try to check out the 5127 in person

I guess I'll be the lone detractor here. Do try to track down a 5127 if you can (at least to see in person before you decide). It is a stunning piece that to me is a perfect blend of modern and vintage in a very wearable 37 mm size. In a way, its sensual styling is more like what I associate with Vacheron than Patek (especially when compared to some of the more austere Calatravas such as the 5196 and its bretheren).

I am personally underwhelmed by the VC Patrimony with the date at 6 o'clock. The date seems misplaced, almost as if to compensate for a movement not correctly sized to the case/dial. I also think the 40 mm piece, with its thin bezel and expansive dial, would play too large for a dress watch, whereas the 5127 with a medium or dark brown strap would do great double-duty for both dress and more casual situations.

Just one owner's opinion.
