Gorgeous watch

Hi FX,

Clearly a gorgeous watch, the best surprise of last year's SIHH for me.

Everything seems perfect to me (or to my taste).

Except of course the ticket to ownership, when you remember what was a "Les Historiques Chronographe". But that's all the market today.

Still a piece not to miss. A great design, a perfect size, and no weakness.

Can't wait to see it again in a week time.

See you

Dje

Hands on review of the Vacheron Constantin Chronograph Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955

 By: foversta : January 10th, 2016-13:26
The year 2015 was eventful for Vacheron Constantin with the presentation of the new collection Harmony which led to the introduction of several handwind or automatic in-house chronograph calibers. However, the new calibers 3200, 3300 and 3500 haven\'t cau...

I could see it in the flesh, recently...

There is one thing I still wonder, or I didn't get from your review... Is this movement based on the Lemania? There are many points in common, in the architecture of both movements. I will post my review later, but I must confess that, with some small res...

yes, it is clearly stated in the review.

The 1142 is a higher frequency evolution of the 1141 which comes from the Lemania 2310. Fx

VC can call it inhouse

By: COUNT DE MONET : January 11th, 2016-03:53
the reason is simple: Roger Dubuis held the rights of this movement and since RD is a part of Richmond VC is using it for this piece. These links, stories and developments are what I like so much in horology! Best Moritz

We need to add an important detail: it is produced by Vacheron Constantin

what was not fully the case with the 1141. VC has the intellectual rights to do it for the reasons explained by Moritz. Fx

Cons are a pretty big issue to me

The Cons you mention seem pretty serious to me in deciding on this watch regardless of "context"

Well, it is also a matter of personal taste

It is the reason why you have to test try, to handle it and to wind it to have a final assessment on it. Thanks! Fx

V&C was always a master with creative lugs

and I'm very glad VC brought this particular design forward under the Historiques line. Did you get a chance to check its timing?

Foversta thanks for this excellent review and superb photography. I had the opportunity to

see this 1955 Cornes De Vache in Watches and Wonders in Hong Kong. It is an expensive watch but it is currently one of my favourite VC's. A few years ago I read an interview of VC CEO Charly Torres who said that VC will always keep the Lemania in its coll...

Answer very soon!

But my understanding is that the 1142 will replace the 1141 step by step. Fx

Best current chrono to get today

To me simple as that: inhouse, utterly traditional, limited in numbers , very beautiful and sold in platinum at a price point of gold models from competitors. A flawless chrono. Once more: very well done VC! Thanks for the review. Best Moritz
