I dressed it down
Yes, the FPJ CB would be easier to dress down, since it is already less dressy, but I'm actually shooting for something in between. The VC on black strap is like tuxedo/formal business dress. I want to turn the VC into a camel hair sportcoat smart business casual. The CB to me is slacks button down shirt office casual. A dressed down CB is khaki polo shirt outdoor casual. IMHO.
So I did manage to get a Camille Fournet glossy gold gator strap to dress down the white gold VC. To me, it's a good combination of eye-catching gleam in a less formal presentation, although it might seem odd to some.
Is it possible to dress down this watch?
I could really use a sharp, clean white gold dress watch like this VC 82172. But in reality, I would probably find myself wanting to wear it more often in casual situations. Is it possible to dress down a watch as formal looking as this with a brown strap...
It is easier to dress down a white gold compared with pink/yellow gold
Perhaps try pairing with a light brown strap?

The VC traditionelle in white metal especially is very versatile
I think a dark blue strap or even the default black strap is nice with jeans and tee shirts. A brown calf strap might dress it down further. Something like these watches I have. Especially those vintage looking straps with a bit of distress leather looks....
First of all replace croc by calf. Then play on the color. light tan, or blue.

But it seems like people will put a NATO strap on anything these days, including dress watches. Who knows, it could actually work ...

No less a formal watch in many respects. I say keep your favorite strap on it and wear it all the attitude that comes with putting on a watch you love. But probably don't so kite surfing with it.
