It is this kind of detail that I love discovering in Vacheron watches. They seem to reveal themselves over time, at least to me, and with the guidance of keener eyes than mine, to be sure.
Ok, Bill, you really need to stop posting these reviews. They only confuse me! ;-) And I am weak.
First I fell for the Historiques Ultra-fine 1968, and then the 1955. Maybe it is just that nearly the entire Historiques line works for me, but I do think that the Ultra-fines really represent all that VC does so well. The gold movement in the 1955 is so stunning. Both are so unbelievably thin and elegant on the wrist. Perhaps what I love most about these two pieces is, despite the alterations in size from the original inspriations for each one of these reincarnations, the increase in size has been just enough to make these wearable today, and in each case the new watch restores the movement found in the originals from 1955 and 1968 -- both legendary calibers that have withstood the test of time.
I would dearly love to add both of the Ultra-fines to my collection some day...
