Vacheron Constantin

It's a fairly robust watch.

It houses a Girard Perregaux movement that is the same one G-P puts in its sports watches. When I owned one, I never worried about its being bumped, and it was frequently bumped quite vigorously without ill effect. I would not dare to do that sort of thing to the JLC movement in the current Overseas. The case is quite comfortable and gave me no trouble even though I took it in water including hot tubs.

I disposed of the watch for two reasons: one was that it was slightly susceptible to magnetization, such that occasionally it would change rate by 5 - 10 seconds per day (which could be corrected by demagnetization). The other is that I never got quite comfortable with the bracelet, which I could never make exactly the right size. (I had a truly miserable experience trying to get additional inks from Vacheron.) In retrospect, I'm not sure it was a good idea to let it go: I am frequently in situations where a watch of unassailable quality and considerable robustness would be desirable, and with those criteria the old-model Overseas may be the only real choice.
