The big manufacturers have lost their way...
...this should be a classy, elegant, gentleman's watch. At 42.5mm it is anything but. It is silly at this size. And the movement at 27.2mm is TINY! They're not even trying anymore. Make something in platinum, put a huge price tag on it, call it 'limited' and wait for the masses to line up with cash in hand.
The ref. 47245 (pictured) at 37mm is a far superior watch. Look at the subtle cross-hatching of the dial compared to the ham-handed 'frosting' of the current offering...and those lugs! On the new offering, the 'PT950' at 4:30 is the final straw. This screams new money. Sorry for the mini rant but I am getting fed up with bad design and lazy product offerings from companies that should know better.

It seems there is a new CEP model, the patrimony retrograde date and moonphase. The only source I see is hodinkee which has posted pictures. Not on VC site. I actually like the RG version of this watch as can adjust functions via crown, just wish 2mm smal...

I do think the patrimony is showing its age. Although if classic is wanted can go down the traditionnelle line. The cal 2460 is small, under powered and can use an update, especially in 42.5mm cases it is being put in. It does seem VC needs to update some...
I love platinum watches, but one of the reasons they are charming is that you know it’s platinum while it easily looks like steel to anybody else...
