You continue my education about VC and the QDI in particular. I also would have chosen the Purist route and selected a saffire dial model. But the thing that most speaks to me with regard to the QDI is the case design, which is so complex yet elegant and ... 

I've always thought that a pairing of the American 1921 and a QDI would be a great way to go with a mini-VC collection. Bill

Actually, I don't know how what to think about the QDL. It is a very intriguing watch with this unique dial, the concept etc... It has a special place inside Vacheron collection and your post explains it perfectly why. Thanks a lot! Fx

I'm glad you favored the original transparent dial, and agree with your comments regarding the timing of its introduction being a bit problematic. You also mention the influence of the Chinese market, which has created a schizophrenic personality with the... 

I think that even with the solid dials on the QDI, the core of demand from China for VC watches lies within the Patrimony family. The diamond set watches are certainly so intended, and I would bet that most sales of those diamond set watches in the US end...
