While playing with straps can be fun and can give a different look to a watch, in this particular instance it is the whole package that is so attractive and effective.
The burgundy textured leather strap is designed to match the watch. The color matches the numbers in the date window and that effect would be lost should the color of the strap be changed. The color really complements the yellow gold coloring extremely well. The artist (the designer) chose this very unique strap and I like (personally) to respect the eye of the designer in this particular instance. Of course this is just my opinion.

Totally agree. Maybe somewhere in the horological universe you will find a watch that has a date window that you will accept.

The Patrimony line has been around for quite a while now, and it's proven to have staying power. This dial is a great variation and I agree the whole dial works quite well.
