In the images below we see an Observatoire on the left and a 5170 on the right. The Observatoire's stud is held fixed in the balance cock. On the right, the Patek's stud is held under the Geneva-style stud carrier (A) and can float clockwise or counter-clockwise before being fixed in place by the screw (B). My question is, how are watches without a moveable stud carrier adjusted for beat/centering of the hairspring?
It's possible I'm asking the wrong question, as I'm trying to expand my knowledge.

This answers my question 100%. It seems that the moveable stud carrier really just addresses the small adjustments like he made at the end of the video...it doesn't appear to be a panacea for all alignment adjustment. Thanks again for sharing the video! C...
