Comedy…
For me comes in two distinct forms. The first is the former Yugoslav variety, mostly associated with movies such as ‘The marathon runners do the victory lap’ or ‘Who’s singing there’ but also with theatre performances such as ‘Radovan the Third’. It is roll on the floor hilarious but practically untranslatable.
The second period is the late nouthties and early tens British comedy shows, with people such as Jimmy Carr, Dara O’Brien, Hugh Dennis, Sean Locke, Frankie Boyle… That one can get quite hardcore at times and occasionally there’s no line in the sand anymore (a memorable speech from Dara commenting some of his fellow comedians’ joke).
Only been to a live show once, unfortunately - 8 out of 10 cats. The live show was insomuch better in that it was longer and the humor partially better, too (some of it gets cut out for the TV shows).
And to bring in a college joke for you Art, a culinary comment by Hugh Dennis, ‘These Korean meatballs are really the dog’s bollocks’ 😉
As for watches this weekend…
