Friday Feb 19th 2010. turning to the dark side.
a not so little something i picked up recently.
a Lum-Tec M17 phantom. Lum-Tec are a small company based in US and specialise in their own MDV lume technology. i was looking for another all black watch and came across this model from their 2009 range.
interesting to me due to its movement. a vintage russian made Slava 2427 with twin barrels and date. originally a handwind converted to an automatic. reknowned for its accuracy due too the twin barrels although it still needs to settle in.
case 44mm PVD with PVD steel bracelet. lume actually looks dark olive green so not as dark as my Bell & Ross Phantom which i still miss, but pretty good. at night it shines like a torch.
the crystal has a 30% tint to give it a phantom effect. 100m WR. ltd ed of 150 and they only had 2 left including my favourite number, #99 which i couldnt quite believe so i had to buy it 
this is a fresh pic that i've only just taken.

I love this shot (and watch), Filip: hand held, low light at dusk while driving one handed at 90 (KPH not MPH I hope). Degree of difficulty 7.5. Next week I want to see the same thing while on a Ducati. Andrew

Hi Andrew ... i will not try this on a Ducati, IMHO a bit too dangerous .... . I tried the to do the same at 120 kph and it was just too shaky to get a good pic .... . See you filip

...the Speedy is a watch that longs to be worn on a strap! I purchased mine early 2009, it's a watch that I've loved for a long time, even more so now. The strap is 'vintage' croc, very dark brown with bronze accents, I think it works well! Best, Dan

thats what i do. i have a decent dark brown croc for my 57 replica as well as the original bracelet then just change them when i feel like it. best Graham

Andrew, you dont need new spring bars. all you really need is a small implement/flat screwdriver to put into the underside of the bracelet end piece and use it to depress the spring bar a bit until it pops out of the hole. in a perfect world a pair of poi...

Nice background and use of reflections to show the shape of the crystal, without distracting from the details of the face too much. I have terrible difficulty mastering reflections. Well done. Andrew

Believe me... wrist pictures are very hard to take
I normally use a DSLR with a 100mm macro lens and this setup, for sure, does not work for wrist pictures. Recently I got a P&S Canon G11 and I'm starting on this type of pictures. Cheers and thanks, Nilo

We need a watch photography 101 series on HoMe with the best photographers sharing their secrets. I get better results with wristshots than static posed shots. I have said before, also, that I like the 'life' that a wristshot brings to a watch, so I guess...

A perfect 'dress' chronograph, Geo. It is partly the black & white dial that makes it 'pop', but the legibility, design and hands are all just beautiful. A very special piece in the Cartier range. Thanks for sharing it here. Andrew
