and in sticking to the back story here are my 4 that won’t break the bank.
For a classic dress watch you’d have to go far to find a better priced model than the VC Patrimony Traditionelle Small Seconds 
Again - the pricing on the current Speedmaster is so competitive - and this is the most accurate watch I have in my collection. This one will scratch the sports chronograph itch!
For a competitively priced diver this ceramic Bathyscaphe is pretty much bullet proof (ok - maybe not but it’s pretty much impossible to scratch)
And finally for a travel watch that’s under the radar this MBIII fits the bill. Comes in handy if you have to hit the ejector seat on the jet too 😉
With a bit of careful shopping I think you could get all four for less than $20k used - with around half of that being the VC
