You are one of the few proud PuristS who can make that claim. Thank you for showing us a pic of that Spacemaster. I've yet to see one of those out in public. I wonder if it was commercially successful for Omega? Warmest, Mike

I know that I'll never put Quartz and Mechanical watches in the same world but I also remember that quartz was a major evolution in the watchworld: reliable, accurate, thinner, lighter... And this period let people design crazy watches (as the 70' and 80'...

and yes I would never consider the two categories to be in the same world (quartz vs. mech). Both have their advantages and disadvantages. In terms of design, I find that mechanical watches have been playing "catchup" over the past decade. The avant garde... 

in a world where marketing is strongly working. Any mechanical watch would donwsize in interest if it were to be switched to quartz. That's why I think that quartz watches must work in their own field and create new products. In the 70's/80's all the Amid... 

My last battery driven watch was given to me by my parents as a gift for having passed one of my exams 25 years ago. Sadly it broke some day, so I am quartz-free since. Probbably I am too much a purist, but I cannot imagine myself buying a battery driven ...  

I used to be totally dismissive of quartz because they seemed to be too easy to produce impressive results, i e a 15 dollar watch would, in terms of performance easily outperform the most expensive mechanical time pieces. It doesn't take much skill by the...

Lots of good looking watches... I love my Ventura v-matic, but ended up getting a Sigma for work on oil rigs... And never thought i'd be getting an orange strap! I also got the wife a lovely Miss V... ...  

Quartz is so integral to what Ventura is, I sometimes get funny looks from watch salespeople with my mechanical Ventura V-matic. Welcome to PuristsPro!

Thanks - and indeed the Sigma needs a new battery... Last time Baechtold the Corum and Ventura dealer in Thailand changed it... And did such a poor job the internals got soaked next time i washed it at work - and after being repaired with a new movment, t...

Were this General Electric LED digital, circa 1976, because I wanted a red LED watch but couldn't afford the Pulsar ... ... and this Swatch that was a robust legible workhorse, but sweat destroyed the plastic on the rear battery cover so the watch is unre...
