It is a little a matter of how you define waiting.
When the Chronometer was launched I had been in watches for only three years. (I define the acquisition of a Speedy Pro as the begin of my watch nutness.)
I fell in love with the GO Chronometer immediately but in the sense of an unreachable dream. So yes, I waited for it but not in the sense of placing an order and awaiting delivery.
When the opportunity came along my way at the end of last year I was quite unprepared to face it. Today I am so happy that I took the plunge 
I am a little surprised that you find the Chronometer too large on your wrist.
Myself I have a very slim wrist and I am careful with my watch sizes.
But the SC with the short lugs and the integrated curved strap fits my wrist well for my taste.
You always have the option to get your G.O. with a short strap.

I've long felt the Overseas was the one watch . . .
