Hi Art,
Time to hit the water, but I have a moment to share a little about this Seamaster.
When I wear it, I'm reminded of my mom. It came to me through her friend Beverly, whose late husband had worn it.
Beverly gave me a bunch of gold coins and jewelry and asked to find a buyer. I schlepped around town, shopping her trinkets and calling in with quoted prices. Each time she said "not enough; ask for more".
Beverly had offered me a percentage in return for my laboratory, so I was motivated, but her target price was unrealistically high.
After the 5-6th buyer declined to meet her price I was getting frustrated. I asked her "what makes you an expert on jewelry resale?" (Other than wanting top dollar?)
She said "Well, my family has owned pawn shops for 3 generations. I wanted to hear what they're offering without showing my face."
I knew then I'd been hoodwinked; sent on a fool's errand; she had no intention of selling.
When I grumbled, she laughed, and handed me this watch, saying "Take it, you earned it."
They're both gone now.
