. . . and difficult to explain. In some part, it's the very purposefulness of wristwatches from the Golden Era that lingers in our appreciation today . . . these were watches that served a purpose, that common people needed and would sacrifice the better part of a month's pay to obtain. There's also an aspect of their design that's appealing, compared to today's counterparts: less ostentatious, and more refined.
It takes a level of awareness to comprehend the allure; vintage isn't for everyone.
