Never knew it existed. Any idea what happened with the original one, was it returned to the retailer? I assume at this point it would have been paid out by insurance claim? Interesting. Glad another enthusiast helped you out.

I not only notified the seller that it was stolen, but also notified eBay as well. I hope things got set right in the end, and if the seller didn’t do the right thing, I hope eBay had some rule that made returning the watch mandatory.

About the first one: OMG! I can easily understand your feelings and stress flying back to your home with one of your new found in Paris babies missing! What an upsetting situation! And I can imagine your surprise and joy when finding that charming chrono ... 

You indeed have hit the „nail on the head“ in your kind assessment of the importance of that first Jaeger Chronograph, which was first thought to be lost and then was happily regained !!.. „All is well, that ends well“ - and I know how careful with „alcoh... 

Of course I see you learned a lesson: you may keep enjoying friends and drinks... after having safely guarded your precious horological catches! Lol! And yes, a find like your beautiful Breguet which tells you its previous story with the rare original box... 

The first one had me perspiring at the prospect of you loosing a watch 😅

And Yes, it had been a sort of restless flight home, with focusing how easy one might loose a great find, in my beloved city of Paris. The deeper my joy, when that „little Monsieur“- Jaeger Valjoux 72 Chrono in the end was happily regained !! 👍 Again, thx...

I am glad that you are alright and that you almost have a 5513 as special as the one from your parents. This is a great personal story that's something you read about in the news papers!

From memory it was back in the late 80’s. I exchanged it for a blue dial submariner.

The Bluesy Sub! Be it a two tone or a full gold is a wonderful variant of the old black dial Submariner. The deep cobalt blue of Rolex is almost impossible to beat. Cheers my dear friend!

Looking back at these watches. I remember how the Jubilee bracelets stretched and how popular the Bi-Metallic finish was back then.

At least in the older versions. And agree that two tone watches were trendy in the 1980’s and 90’s. Probably they will make a return soon I feel. Cheers my dear friend

Hi The spark to get it was an article in a watch magazine - a forerunner to QP in the UK. A bit like this site - watch magazines can be very dangerous things! Yes you're correct - European version & I always thought more common than the port hole version.... 

This is really great, the stories are so interesting! I find it interesting that we associate more stories with watches than other personal items with the exception of a house or car, it think watches seem to have something so much more personal about the...
