Very interesting topic
Hello KM , I actually went back and read your writeup a second time as my first impression was that it was primarily to do with โ โ formal wear โ and associated watches. But then I realised it was actually talking about any occasion which one uses to dress up and make an effort so to speak ; which to my mind requires a relatively simple but elegant timepiece that speaks for itself ( but not too loudly ) yet has an impact if that makes sense ๐
In that spirit , these are the watches in my collection which I feel fit the bill , starting with the Nicholas Rieussec below which is often ( unfairly) overlooked
Followed by the ML which is designed as a simple dress watch almost , but the square wheel adds an intriguing element
And of course a gold watch often works well for this purpose , though my personal preference is that it not be too blingy . This Perrelet works well here
Am also sympathetic to the right microbrands for this purpose , which are usually more about divers than dress watches , but will occasionally come through as with a couple of Meccaniche Venezianes of mine
But one should also never forget to have fun which I believe bottom down is the reason we all indulge this hobby , and so this last one which by all rights shouldnโt work , it still somehow against all odds does ( I think ? โฆ. ๐)
Thanks for this great topic , and itโs been wonderful to see all the exceptional watches posted by so many members.
Cheers , and have a fantastic weekend !
