That is indeed a beautifull watch but I can't agree on the 'fairly priced' .... No I would dare too say they are very cheap. Looking at the quality, complications, history, etc I think Zenith watches are a bargain today. Might be the most interesting brand on the market when you look at the 'price - What do I get' ratio.
For example an inhouse chronograph. Some might consider inhouse overhyped today and therefore somethimes overpriced but since we don't wan't to compare apples with oranges I think we must stick to inhouse. Zenith offers us the famous El Primero for 5500 euro. The competitors 1/ a Rolex Daytona ? 2/ A Panerai inhouse Chronograpgh, IWC (non ETA), JLC, ... All their competitors are at least 50% more expensive, is some cases ( and this is not an exception) we're even taliking about 100% more expensive for something similar.
Now think about the captain annual calender. 6500 euro for again that legendary chronograph but now plus an annual calendar !
Mr Nataf was a bit too optimistic when he showed us his listprices, 20.000 for an ugly black Defy :-(
Mr Dufour .... all I can say is ; Thanks for this opportunity but I realize this will be adjusted one day. It is probably a part of the strategy to make this great brand famous again. But I'm sure once succeeded the price will be more like what the competitors charge.
Step by step they will rise and one day we'll think, 'Damn, why didn't I buy one more Zenith in 2012'
