Vintage Breguet Type XX, 2d Generation.
A bigger case ( 40 mm ) with fatter and flatter lugs we can see on some vintage Heuer and the JLC Shark Chronograph!

This second generation was produced from 1971 to 1986, in a quantity of 770 pieces.

This one comes with its more common insert, but there was also a Tachymeter one and a World Time one, exactly the same we find on the JLC Shark!

This Vintage Breguet Type XX is very interesting.
You can see that a lot of the design language and elements from this that have carried over to the more modern versions, I much prefer the more modern case with the coin edge case. Also to note the bracelet on this one appears to be by Gay Freres although I again prefer the more modern bracelets to this one.

AFAIK, the bracelet is not the one which came with this watch, indeed. As for the coin edge case of the modern ones, and of those from 1995, we went from a tool to a cool elegant watch.
I especially love the Type XX Ref 3800.

With the gold cap on the crown
Must be an early number. The gold cap was on for a very short time at the beginning of the series.
That is a great version as I really do think the coin edge case makes it look so much more elegant and gives a lot more character.

Breguet's original Type XXI entry
When the French War Department came out with their Type XXI specifications in 1956, this was Breguet'sproposal, which was deemed too expensive by the ministry.
The first generation was adopted by the French Aeronautique Navale... This is the 2d generation.
It’s very appealing, I really like this type of graduated bezel vs. the later models.
This is IMO more purposeful looking.

The 3800 series Aeronavale was Breguet's third generation of the Type XX.
here is a little story about this watch
when i was deciding on the Type XX, which I still love, a competing AD was trying to persuade me to go with a Rolex Sub 14060M (he has two left in inventory) or a PP SS Nautilus (he hinted a discount is possible). i guess the rest is history 😅
I like most of the versions of the Breguet Type XX and Type XXI.
But the one I bought and obviously like the most is the Type XXI 3810ST as I also like the date which I know many don't, but then that is the beauty of collecting watches we are all allowed to like different things and there really are no right or wrong choices only what each of us likes best that counts. Here is a picture of mine.
