Breguet

I've enjoyed following this board for a while - now joining because I am ready to purchase my first piece!  I have narrowed my list but am interested in some experienced opinions. 

Absolutely love the Brequet Type XXI w/ grey/br. dial and brown strap and/or ss bracelet (who am I kidding: I have always loved most of the Breguet pieces, Classique in particular, becuase of their detail, beauty, clean lines, history, and dynamic subtlety when on the wrist - - most people have no idea what you have), but also really love the look and feel of the Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Chronograph w/ creme dial and brown strap. Very different watches and watch companies...but to me both look and feel great on my wrist.  There is no denying the solid  heft and feel of the XXI, as well as its history, but I also love the clean, elegant look (IMHO) and feel of the U/N.  I love the fact that I rarely see either watch - - let alone pieces from either company.  I'd like a watch that 1) can be worn in the office most days of the week, 2) is representative of that brand's strengths, mystique and style, and, 3) one that will enable me to add a dress/dressier watch in a year without duplication of style or looks as well as the fun of "collecting" different styles/brands.

The options I have come up with (open to others): get the U/N MM now but a Breguet Classique down the road instead of XXI, or obtain the less formal non-chronograph U/N Diver w/ ss bracelet today, and the Type XXI a year from now for the more formal piece.   Thoughts?

My budget will never allow me to trade in and out or have many pieces so I want to consider carefully in advance what will hopefully be 2 purchases in the next year.   I appreciate the thoughts and feedback!

The first real watch I purchased was the Breguet Qantiemme and the last watch was the UN GMT Perpetual. I wear both on a daily basis without anyone realizing what I have on my wrist. IMHO I think of Breguet as a more subtle and exclusive company and UN as an undiscovered gem. Buy the one that you love looking at. Either choice will be right...and then you'll have to purchase the other brand. Happy shopping.

I am a proud owner of XX and XXI,and i posses UN Maxi Ocean too.

My thoughts here it goes,

i)If you are a beginner and would go for outlook/appearance then both are great watch just choose one.But,

ii)if you are a serious beginner here,it involves some technical's consideration.To me,out look/apperance will fade as very year Basel shine our eyes worse then diamond's capability.So,we talk about movements,UN do not have any inhouse chono movements at this time whereas XXI is their own loyal Lemania.So,i would STRONGLY suggest to you -Get the XXI without a second thought.Have it tried on your hand first.You will not regret it.

Thanks for replying to my query earlier.
You have the XXI as well?  Is it too big for you?  I like the XXI more than the XX, but am not quite sure about the size of the former.  Your wrist seems to be as small as mine (6 1/4"-6 1/2"), so I would like to hear your view.  Any wristshot will be much appreciated!  I plan to wear it on both strap and bracelet.

Its Your choice!For me my wrist is getting smaller eeryday but both fit me ery well.This is how isee it,XX posses a smaller size so it fits,and XXI's lugs are bend inward,so surprisingly fits very well too.Why i ended with both.One represent the past and one represent the future.So what can i say?beside "Crazy".

The XXI is a serious contender on my wish list at the moment along with the non-Offshore AP chrono.
You don't happen to have the latter as well, do you?  It would be great to  hear a comparison between the two, especially on the issue of comfort.

Your question comparison of type XXI and non-Offshore chrono.Your non-offshore refers to Royal Oak AP?There are Royal Oak Chrono and Royal Oak Offshore Chrono,which one are you refer to?Lets take it as the Royal Oak chrono.

I do not have a Royal Oak chrono but with me for 6 month is my Royak Oak Offshore Alenghi!Nevertheless,i have tried many-many time the Royal Oak Chrono in brecelet and strap.

In your text you mentioned "comfort".thats one of my utmost criteria of choosing a watch too.Comparing the two,let us talk about the outlook of both,type XXI gives you more of a hidden beuty effect,observer need to sneak closer to examine your wrist instrument due to the unque colour and dome effect of the dial.need to mention here,is the striking second and minutes hands of the chrono.(will let people wonder "rattarapante" effect) while RO is a signature/identity watch for AP(speaks aloud) as people will be able to identify your watch from distance.
Now,movements.Both are made in house calibre.One lemania and the other ap's own calibre.So,both are equal.
Then,Comfort point.Type XXI ss in my opinion  feels more comfortable compare to its heavier sibling(the RG).RO's bracelet surprisingly fits nicely on smaller wrist and does not feel heavy compare the Offshore.Therefore,choosing RO in brecelet and strap are both very desireable too.Here i see the issue to comfort are quite acceptable for both the watches.
Finally,if i may conclude is a matter of how you want to present yourself.In other words,which one from both of them speaks for you.
I hope my view above will give you some help in choosing and really hope i did not make things worse here for you.Anyway,both are good buy!Happy Shopping and do post me pic when you made you decision.
