I'm wondering, do they have a whole factory of caged animals for the Kopi Luwak coffee beans? Poor animals...
I don't drink coffee, but I'd feel bad supporting this industry. I didn't even take a sip of a cup offered to me when I was on holiday in Bali.
Have you seen how they kill the alligator at the alligator leather farms? They take a meter long metal rod and they ram it into the alligator's head down its spine. It's very painful, sad, and cruel. I actually don't want to wear crocodile/alligator strapped watches because of it!
I really went off on a tangent there, but seeing how those alligators are treated at those farms really bothers me.
Alligator/crocodile shoes and straps used to be a status symbol for brave men who hunted these scary-looking predators. To attest how big their "bravery" was (or more likely how much they had to drink the night before and had a team of assistants to ensure little could go wrong). Today, alligator shoes and watch straps are worn by people who've never seen nor touched an alligator. It's become a symbol of wealth, not bravery, even if it is bravery induced by liquid courage (alcohol)...
Kopi Luwak coffee was a good thought Alkiro. It crossed my mind too!
You mentioned the other animals that are poorly treated. It's nice to know you're an aware consumer!
