Probably the closest I’ll get to them in my lifetime 🤣

When these came out, I thought they were super duper cool.  To me, they were the bee's knees.  And then I wore one - and instantly, I realized, it wasn't for me.  It was so thick, so heavy, so hard to wind, strap was so thin and not wide enough to distribute the weight.  And then friends who had gotten one, had mechanical problems.  Some of these friends used the watch fairly often.  For most of these friends with problems, it was a special occasion watch worn less than once a week.  So today, I'm okay I don't have one.  And while I still think the concept is awesome and cool - I try to tell everyone who's considering one, they're not great to use as a daily watch and they're probably best used as a special occasion watch.  But on special occasions where you wear a fitted shirt or a French cuffed shirt - the watch is likely too thick for that.  

I think the complicated ones are thicker (not sure off the top of my head) but I did wear a regular time only Zeitwerk as a daily for about ~a year without any issues. The WG is definitely quite heavy, but you get used to it after a week or so and it is an easy-ish watch to dress down.
Ended up selling it because I'm partial to openworked pieces and Lange went back on a promise they had made when I bought it (precovid hype), but was an awesome/fun watch.
The service costs are kind of nuts though with Lange...I think it's $4000+ for the regular time only Zeitwerk.

My ZW is 13.1mm thick and looks silly on my small wrist but feels just fine and is a pleasure to wear.

This turned out much better than getting the honey gold Lange 1 Tourbillon, which I also bought sight unseen. That was a big mistake. There wasn't anything inherently wrong with that watch. I just didn't like the case and dial combination. Honey gold was brand new at the time, and I thought I'd like the color more than I actually did. It sat literally unworn for a decade, with the hang tag still on the watch head, before I finally traded it for the very same model (preowned) in platinum, which I liked much more and wear a lot.

I bought my mother a Honey Gold 1815 Moonphase back when they came out over a decade ago - when I had just started working on my first job. I don't like the honey gold neither. It doesn't look like gold. We humans are programmed to like gold right away. It's in-born. Even babies like gold. There's a warmth and richness to the color. That Honey Gold did not have that warmth and richness. The Lange 1815 Moonphase is a beautiful watch overall. But the honey gold case - not that desirable in my opinion. The rest of the watch is super cool though.

I never feel like wearing the HG 1815 Moonphase. It's not bad looking. It's just that the original Emil Lange 1815 Moonphases in RG and PT are much more appealing to me.

Your camera does capture a warmer tone to this gold. My camera and lighting conditions often captures a more pale look to this gold.

It looks good once it's on the wrist -- but the challenge is getting it on the wrist, which means it has to beat some pretty stiff competition!

You must have more muscles than me! For me, it was definitely a watch that I always knew was there. I had the white gold striking time version, I wore it for two hours in the house, and decided it wasn't for me.

Currently strapped to my wrist on a carbon black alligator strap from Camille Fournet - sweater and jeans today😉. I’ve found mine to be extremely reliable considering what it does. Agreed on the service costs. Just dropped off a Saxonia Annual Calendar for service - let’s see what particular organ I have to consider selling to pay for the service costs 🤣
