...is that the subdials are outlined on the L1 30th. In person, the onyx dial is much shinier with no contrasting subdial texture while the original "Darth" has snailing in the subdials.
When you pointed those out, I searched for a good pic of the 30th anniversary version and could see very clearly the differences. I have to agree with Dimardi that your original version is much nicer, IMHO. Still, I’m sure the onyx is beautiful in person too.
The 30th anniversary model I'm sure is wonderful too

I have not seen it in person so I can only judge from the pictures....and I looked at a lot since I was having to make a decision about it. I was offered the 30th anniversary onyx and turned it down for the reasons I mentioned above. Some of the design features I was not crazy about and I just could not warm to the Onyx version and so decided to turn it down. Hard to justify that sort of expense if I am trying to convince myself to love it, hence my decision.
I think the outline in my opinion is less appealing than the original darth without the outline and I like the different texture/snailing and slightly sunken subdials for the time and seconds.
