A. Lange & Söhne

Hello everyone!

Langematik Perpetual was my first Lange and have loved it so much, but for some reason am kinda apart for now.  And I am thinking/ wondering...  what would be the second best perpetual watch out there in the similar or smaller price range?  Since I don't know much (almost nothing) about brands other than Lange, I want to hear from the pool of knowledge and experience here.  My small conditions are: smaller than 39.9mm, and white metal.  Moonphase is not mandatory for me. 

So, will you watch gurus out there help me by telling me what you already have or would seek, please?  If at all possible, please give info on the price (new and used, list, discount, etc - to the extent permissible on this site), and its photo definitely.

the older Master Perpetual is a very nice watch, and pretty cheap for a perpetual, especially if you go for the steel one. My other preference would be UN, you can get the Perpetual GMT+- in White gold I believe

A different style, a wonderful work and it can be adjusted forward and backward.

A good choice to be an alternative at your Langematik.

I know it, as I own it.

But this is a fantastic watch and the most effiicient and original PC as you can² set all the pc datas backwards and forwards...

There is another more classic, but very elegant choice: PP 5140.

You want more affordable?

JLC Master Perpetual: 37mm of pure happyness.

And if you can get it with the black dial, it is even nicer!

But I wished to find a QP which has a quite different design from the Langematik. The PP 5140 and the JLC are very classic... but of course, they are superb watches.

Exists in 38,5mm, with the same characteristics than the one you posted the pic, but in a conventional case...

So, you were right.

UN is s solution to consider!

PS: There is also another solution, and an original and magnificient one, the RO QP! In skeleton this is a masterpiece!

Hey, thank you everyone!  JLC seems quite attractive.  How old is this model?  Didn't they make black dial one with WG ot PT?  I had a bad experience with JLC when I asked for simple overhaul servicing.  They said 22 weeks for such simple work, and therefore, has tendency to be sold away quickly be getting tired of it, to be honest with you all.

So, Questions to kind people like you :
What is QP?
What is RO?
What is the model name or number whith fits in my parameter from UN, if you remember?
Any photos of these models and perhaps obtainable price range (if necessary, via PM, please!)?

RO is Audemars Piguet Royal Oak...

QP is the French Abrviation for Perpetual Calendar...

Here's the UN 38,5mm, or newer 40m:



Her's the JLC perpetual calendar in SS with the bllack dial..You will have to uhnt it as it is sold out...



Another great JLC QP: The Antoine Lecoultre 8 Days Perpetual in platinum , but 41,5mm...

RO skelton is not my taste.  UN looks interesting lacking moonphase.  But JLC black is most attractive - but it may be too light....    U-mnnnn.

I will have to think deep.  If any other ideas someone has, please let me know!!!

They make a nice, though somewhat formal, QP in the older Villeret range. It is a chronograph too, steel and 34mm:

as well as a 38mm Steel Leman with chronograph


Sadly I can't find that they make the newer Villeret with a perpetual calendar except in rose gold

But I also like the GO Senator PC.

The JLC is a superb option to consider - JLC QP: The Antoine Lecoultre 8 Days Perpetual in platinum , but 41,5mm...

It also has a 4 digit 'year' display.

BP [Blancpain] too is a winderful option - I like watches from this house a lot.

why you are feeling "kinda apart" with the LP.

i alternate my LP with the 5140. In terms of size, weight and aesthetics, they are complete opposites and in my eyes a great complement to each other! I think they are similarly priced as well. Good luck with your hunt!

Ken, I have read he entire thread and my advise is for you to hide your lange for a few months and you will love it again ! In my view, the lange PC is the best looking of all the current PCs out there...

Maybe not the best advise if you are itching for a new purchase but this technique worked for me before. you never know what you have until you miss it

Just had lunch with a friend of mine and he was wearing his Patek 5159G (and me the Langematik Perpetual in platinum). The Patek looks stunning in the wild, all the pictures I have seen so far do not show at all the beauty of that piece. Only "critics": a 5159P would be even nicer but is not available (at least so far).

Glashutte Original has some really beautiful perpetuals currently on the market.  In white metal they have the Senator in SS, and also, there is a Platinum version with a black dial.  You can check them out on the GO website.

I think the new LE Perpetual Senator in Platinum w/ Romans is a gorgeous watch.  I believe the size is 40mm as are all of the Senators. Im guessing it would be similar to the size of your Meissen.  This new LE perpetual is great, however I think I am partial to the old LE without the romans, but thats just me.  Do you favor the romans over the older version?
