A. Lange & Söhne

Dear enthusiasts,

since there has not been a likely message so far, first of all i´d like to take the chance of some hopefully peaceful holidays for all of you to extend the best wishes for the holidays and a healthy, prosperous and happy 2009 by the brand of A. Lange & Söhne and it´s staff. The manufacture right now is in holidays and will be back in the second week of 2009.
I´m quite confident to be on the safe side if expressing a heartfelt "thank you" to all of you fans for your ongoing interest in the brand, the watches, the news and, last but certainly not least, for your contributions and passion!

The year of 2008 almost ended, which may allow to have a short look back.
To me it seem the year of 2008, a year in quite a row of record results for the swiss industry, was a particularly successfull time for A. Lange & Söhne.
And a time which may be best described as a combination of news and consolidation.
The portfolio again underwent some reduction, which is prerequisite for a small brand. And A. Lange & Söhne, rightfully placed among the very high-end watch brands in particular and luxury brands in general, remains to be an exclusive producer of most exclusive products. For the somewhat 5000 to 7000 watches mostly hand-made by a little over 500 employees in Glashütte, it is necessary to focus on strength instead of production totals or overwhelmingly large product portfolios. To see the model range being consolidated hence is a welcome development to me and my best guess is such will continue in 2009.
But the year was not short of news as well, such as the technical marvel of the world´s first stop-seconde tourbillon represented by Lange´s new CABARET TOURBILLON.

But we´ve heard other very promising news as well. Such as the brand welcoming the 500th staff member (and given highly qualified personal is hard to find in the watch industry, that´s really great news). And the brand´s plans for new extended premises, which will bring back those currently residing outside Glashütte! All this is a very healthy base for the future, together with Lange´s creativity and excellence we all admire in the beautiful watches each year.
It is thus no surprise the year of 2008 to be a very successfull year for the brand; while Lange and Richemont prefer not to publically share figures, private comments indicate the results of 2008 to be much appreciated, even more so in "tough times" for financial markets.

The year of 2009 will start early, with the SIHH watch fair starting as soon as January.
The short time of only 9 month since SIHH 2008 limits chances to see many new technical innovations, which doesn´t rule out quite some beautiful and interesting news (not the least those we´ve seen already). And the brand, being very healthy from a product and financial point of view, is promising to go untroubled by financial turbulences in the non-watch world.
All in all, i´m much looking towards the next year and all the news to come.

For now,  i´m very happy to see the interest and passion expressed in another year on the Lange Forum.
It´s great to see the "family" of enthusiasts to gather here, share their experience and enjoy all the beautiful watches.
For 2009 my hope is exactly this to continue - and i´m under the impression chances are not bad for this to happen

Let me end with sincere thanks to all of you who for taking the time and contribute, as well as the constant support and friendship of our good friends at A. Lange & Söhne in Germany and all over the world.
My best wishes to all of you, enjoy peaceful holidays and a prosperous healthy 2009 - i´m looking forward to see all of you (and your watches) on the forum again!
