For those who are not or cannot be at SIHH.  Neither am I

Here are some photos of the apparently Lange's top-of-the-line Novelty of this year.
Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar.

I assume that many of you can see these photos and press release via Lange's web site, but for unknown reason, some countries including Japan cannot see it - the server that serves those regions are replicated from the main server with one day delay.  I got these from other source

PT is LE of 100.  Also available in PG
Size=41.9mm








Month indicator is in the inner bezel.




Caliber is based on Daymatik's and automatic tourbillon.  Yes, you read it right, AUTOMATIC.
Power reserve=50 hours.

Other novelties will appear here sooner or later, but thought you would like to see the top of the line first.

Thank you Ken! I live in Zurich and on Lange's website this is not yet available. So you get it first on Purist!

... different server than EUR or US.  And EUR/US can access the up-to-date, real time updated server, while the region like us (including Japan and your country) access the server which has not been replicated yet.  Lange should do something about this!!  It is just not fair :-(

Thanks for the file,appreciate it but,,,don t know what to say really,without jumping to quick conclusions(I ve learned that!),I find the design quite uninspiring,busy and a bit all over the place.Technically nothing to say Lange at its best even if I am not a fan of automatic tourbillons(apart from GP 3GB!).

Need to see it first.

it would have been better if the tourbillon was on the back side like Patek

The tourbillon IS on the back like Patek!

Just hate the rotor covering it half the time!

but isn't it that we can only see the backside of the tourbillon through the back case?

What you see from the case back is the tourbillon, and even as in Patek's case's where you see it from the back only, it is considered the "front" of the tourbillon,Not the back of the tourbillon. The escapement wheel is clearly UNDER the balance wheel, so that is the front of the tourbillon.

I like it because it's a Lange, but...........

 

As moc says, in terms of design I'm not sure about it, technically there is no doubt it's just another piece of art. Let's wait to see it live.

And the months around the rim, this gives me the feeling that I've fallen into the alternate universe where FP Journe was born and raised in Stuttgardt, or had a heretofore unknown German brother!

It isn't a bad piece, but i find the tourbillon kinda useless. As a Lange 1 Perp, it would have been a nice addition to the Lange 1 automatic line they started last year, bringing their complications to the model that started it all but as a LE of 100 above €100k it doesn't really add to the product line...

The day, month and leap year indicators are all very legible, which is an improvement over the Datograph and Langematik perpetuals in my opinion. Aesthetically, I think the design is successful because the character of the Lange 1 design is retained, despite the addition of the perpetual calendar components.
